Frequently Asked Questions About Kambo

What is Kambo?

Kambo is a traditional Amazonian medicine derived from the secretion of the Giant Monkey Frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor). For generations, indigenous tribes have respectfully worked with Kambo in ceremonial settings as a tool for purification, resilience, vitality, and spiritual connection. Today, many people seek Kambo as part of their personal wellness journey, often reporting benefits such as increased clarity, emotional release, and a renewed sense of wellbeing.

What are the benefits of Kambo?

Every person's experience is unique, but many participants report benefits such as:

  • Increased mental clarity

  • A greater sense of energy and vitality

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Emotional release and resilience

  • Feeling lighter and more grounded

  • Enhanced connection to intuition

  • Greater confidence and personal empowerment

  • A renewed sense of purpose

  • Support for overall wellness and healthy lifestyle goals

While many people share powerful personal experiences, individual results vary, and Kambo should not be viewed as a substitute for medical care.

How does Kambo work?

Kambo contains naturally occurring bioactive peptides that create a short-lived physiological response in the body. During a ceremony, these peptides interact with the body's systems, producing an intense but temporary experience that many participants describe as deeply cleansing and resetting.

For many people, the effects extend beyond the physical experience, supporting emotional processing, energetic clearing, and personal insight.

Is Kambo safe?

When administered by properly trained practitioners and after a thorough health screening, Kambo can be safely experienced by many individuals. However, it is not appropriate for everyone.

Before scheduling a ceremony, every participant completes a comprehensive intake process and health screening. If Kambo is not appropriate for your current health circumstances, we will discuss alternative recommendations and prioritize your safety.

Who should not participate in a Kambo ceremony?

Kambo is not suitable for everyone. Certain medical conditions, medications, or recent health events may make participation unsafe.

Your health history will be carefully reviewed during your intake consultation to determine whether Kambo is appropriate for you.

Safety is always our highest priority.

What happens during a Kambo ceremony?

Every ceremony begins with intention, education, and preparation.

Your experience typically includes:

  • Welcome and grounding

  • Health review and intention setting

  • Water protocol

  • Kambo application

  • Guided support throughout the ceremony

  • Rest and recovery

  • Integration discussion

  • Aftercare recommendations

Every ceremony is unique, and we support each participant according to their individual needs.

What does Kambo feel like?

Kambo is an intense but relatively short experience.

Many participants notice sensations such as warmth, increased heart rate, facial flushing, perspiration, and temporary physical discomfort during the active phase of the medicine.

The most intense portion generally lasts between 15 and 30 minutes before gradually subsiding.

Following the ceremony, many people describe feeling clear, calm, grounded, energized, or emotionally lighter.

Will I purge during Kambo?

Purging is a common part of many Kambo ceremonies and may include vomiting, bowel movements, or other forms of physical release.

Within traditional Kambo practice, purging is often viewed as part of the cleansing process. Every person's experience is different, and the presence or absence of purging does not determine the value or effectiveness of a ceremony.

How long does a Kambo ceremony last?

Most ceremonies last approximately two to three hours, allowing time for preparation, the ceremony itself, recovery, and integration before returning home.

Private ceremonies may vary depending on your individual needs.

Do I need previous experience with plant medicine?

No.

Many participants experience Kambo before ever working with any other ceremonial medicines.

We welcome both newcomers and experienced participants and will guide you through every step of the process.

How should I prepare for my first Kambo ceremony?

After your consultation and intake, you'll receive detailed preparation instructions tailored to your ceremony.

Preparation generally includes guidance around nutrition, hydration, medications or supplements (when appropriate), what to wear, what to bring, and how to arrive feeling grounded and supported.

What should I bring?

We recommend bringing:

  • Comfortable, loose clothing

  • Water bottle

  • Journal

  • Any personal comfort items you'd like nearby

You'll receive a complete preparation guide before your ceremony.

Do you offer private Kambo ceremonies?

Yes.

We offer both private one-on-one ceremonies and intimate group ceremonies.

Private ceremonies provide a highly personalized experience and may be ideal for those seeking additional privacy, flexibility, or individualized support.

How many people attend group ceremonies?

We intentionally keep our ceremonies small.

  • Up to five participants when both Jason and Nicci are facilitating

  • Up to two participants when served individually

These smaller group sizes allow us to provide individualized attention, maintain a safe container, and support each participant throughout the ceremony.

Where do ceremonies take place?

Most ceremonies are held at Qwantify Wellness Collective in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Our private wellness space has been intentionally created to feel calm, supportive, and energetically clear.

We also travel to private homes, retreats, and wellness centers for those seeking an off-site ceremony.

Do you travel for Kambo ceremonies?

Yes.

We regularly travel for private ceremonies, retreats, and group experiences throughout Colorado and beyond.

If you're interested in hosting a ceremony at your home or retreat location, we'd be happy to discuss the details during your consultation.

What makes your approach different?

Our philosophy extends beyond simply serving medicine.

We believe that preparation, safety, nervous system awareness, and thoughtful integration are just as important as the ceremony itself.

As practitioners trained through Tribal Detox, we combine traditional Kambo practices with backgrounds in:

  • Breathwork

  • Somatic healing

  • Meditation

  • Energy work

  • Coaching

  • Psychedelic preparation and integration

Our goal is to create a healing experience that is compassionate, grounded, and deeply supportive from your first conversation through your integration.

Do you offer preparation and integration support?

Yes.

Every participant receives:

  • A complimentary consultation

  • Comprehensive health screening

  • Personalized preparation guidance

  • Ceremony support

  • Ongoing resources to help you integrate your experience into daily life

We believe healing continues long after the ceremony ends.

How often should someone receive Kambo?

There is no single schedule that is appropriate for everyone.

Some individuals participate in a single ceremony, while others choose to work with Kambo over time as part of their personal healing journey.

We'll discuss your goals during your consultation and help determine an approach that aligns with your needs.

How do I know if Kambo is right for me?

The best place to begin is with a complimentary consultation.

We'll take time to learn about your health history, intentions, and questions, discuss whether Kambo is an appropriate option for you, and help you make an informed decision without pressure.

Our goal is for every person to feel educated, supported, and empowered to choose the path that's right for them.
